Santa Fe, NM - a healthy city
Santa Fe is one of the top 10 healthiest places in the US to live and retire according to AARP The Magazine.
The Magazine listed Santa Fe fourth. According to the magzine it evaluated more than 20 measures of “vitality” including air and water quality, opportunities for excersize, number of doctors, availability of health care, diagnosis of health problems, healthy eathing habits, housing affordability, the local economy, educational resources, crime, climate, recreational amenities, arts and culture.
The explanatory notes say Santa Fe is ranked second in the US for air quality by the American Lung Association, and the rate of diabetes, hypertension and high choleserol are among the lowest in the country because of city funded health campaign aimed at older residents.
